Crimestar provides a complete attribute based geographic reference system that can be built with known valid data and then used to validate addresses and locations when input into system modules. This geographic reference file consists of 3 main components. First a comprehensive list of streets within your jurisdiction or area of responsibility is constructed. Then using those street records and street segment table is built to define sections of each street as delimited by landmarks or cross streets. Each street section can have specific address range attributes associated with it.
The third components is the geographic premise
record file. A premise record captures information about a specific
address including hazardous conditions and associates it with a common
name. Premise record can be associated with street segment records or
constructed individually. The premise record can also be used to
maintain responsible person and contact information about a specific
address or business.
